💥💥💥WOW, WOW, WOW! 💥💥💥 We are absolutely blown away with the news that we were nominated firstly and now are finalists and down to the best 4 pubs in the Country for PUBLICAN OF THE YEAR 2026 - BEST NEWCOMER! Personally, I want to say thank you to each and every one of you for the support and continued support you have shown myself, and my team since we took over 18 months ago. This pub wouldn’t be what it is now without you. Also thank you to my area manager, Neil Gazzard, for the faith he had from day one. It really does mean a lot. We knew we had a task on our hands when we took over, we knew it would take time and we knew what we needed to do to take it to the local community pub it should be. Bringing live music, charity days, Christmas extravaganzas, live animal experiences and celebrating annual events like Mothers/Fathers day, valentines and even St Patrick’s day have been a massive success, the limited sleep and stress has been totally worth it. We created local teams to include our 501 darts team on a Thursday night. We achieved the ultimate achievement of bringing Sunday league football back to the area. This has been an emotional achievement with our team being created in the memory of my late father, Phil Smith, who himself played professional, managed semi professional and before his passing was a Staffordshire FA referee. His dream was for his daughter to have her own Sunday league team and after 15 years of his passing it was finally achieved. Thank you to Billy, Jon Macken and all of our players for making this dream come true. We now have lots going on and soon we open our brand new hotel. This is the next step in the growth of the Slow and Easy and we can’t wait to show how fantastic this new addition to the business is. Finally, my thanks as always have to go to my team. Yes I might be the person in charge but for me this nomination and recognition wouldn’t be possible without them. You really are the back bone to what we achieve and words will never be enough to express the thanks you deserve. Best of luck to the 3 other finalists who have also achieved the honour of top 4 in the country. I know myself that achieving that alone makes us a winner. May the best publican and pub win! Bring on April 27th when we attend the awards ceremony, fingers crossed that we win but like I said before, top 4 is also an incredible achievement. Thank you xx
